I gotta say, for a supposed main character, this series likes to put Lapis in the back pocket for some time while we're doing something else :P

Whether Alexandra was a late addition or not depends on how many chapters are actually left, which I'm not sure is known.

broke: "this was never a real love triangle, Allie is clearly Diana's diversion"

woke: "Natori is an isekai Renako and now pulling 3 magical girls in her harem"

:p

Thanks, I don't use Twitter much anymore or follow them, but I've heard they are reputable. I was also curious since I heard recently the creator of Vinland Saga shot down some folks saying that another season is coming.

Hopefully the anime will come out sometime this year. If so, what a wonderful year for yuri adaptations it will be, alongside all the other yuri series coming out, likely more than 7.

some to mention: Role over and die | I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day | Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games | Kamiina Botan, Yoeru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana | Does It Count If You Lose Your Innocence to an Android? | There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless... Sequel | The Moon on a Rainy Night etc etc

Thanks for the link, and info! The slate of upcoming titles is definitely exciting, I'm currently watching Roll Over & Die, and I need to check out the Android shorts.

Of course, no worries, it most certainly is. I’m also watching Roll over and die right now too, and it’s pretty good so far. As for the Android shorts, I watched it too. They mostly turned the manga into a more lighthearted version. Even though the manga was already fairly lighthearted, the anime made it even more so. :)

It's a real pity this series is no longer being translated. Aside from MahouAko, it's my favorite manga on all of Dynasty Scans.

(I would of course buy it if it were available in my country, but it's not.)

Welp, Lapis is Aurora theory has finally been confirmed. And gods, Aurora has seen and done some shit. When I saw the series tagged with "Gore" on MD, I was like, "Was that always on there?", but after the latest translated chapter, I see why it's there.

One thing doesn't add up yet though: Aurora has clearly learned from the wannabe kidnappers that Lapis and her mom were killed on another noble's orders, and OG!Lapis has clearly wanted her to inherit her paternalistic pro-commoner agenda going forward. So why would Aurora!Lapis be planning an anti-commoner genocide in the present?

The noble wanted them captured as hostages for some reason. It was the commoners who ended up killing.

Well, technically, the lethal wounds were inflicted by knives, not the commoner's bodies, therefore it would be more logical to blame the weapons themselves and start a crusade against cutlery.

Sarcasm aside, from everything we know about Aurora-Lapis, she is smart enough to understand that murders of her adopted family were caused by noble scheming, not by anti-noble prejudice, even if the murderers were bigots and highly incompetent kidnappers, to boot. If she is as smart as I think she is, her rage should be directed at their employer who had hired goons with zero discipline for such a sensitive mission. So either she is more blinded by her emotions than I think, or there is more to her plans than she had revealed even to Natori.

An attenpted genocide would force the commoners to overthrow the nobles as a matter of survival, so no amount of commoners' resignation or nobles' scheming could stop the revolution. There might normally be some wiggle room based on how the genocide's architect spins their misdeeds, but if that architect is the one conspiring towards a commoner uprising, then they can be sure to die in whatever way is required for maximum unrest. It's a far more reliable strategy than orchestrating a rebellion directly, as powerful, charismatic leaders create a single point of failure that only require a poisoned wine glass to break. The only problem is that you'd have to be an absolute villain to kill a bunch of the people you're trying to save just to shake them out of complacency, and no one born into that much privilege would seriously consider this plan.

...Which is to say that I'm fairly confident Aurora didn't need Natori's "foresight" to know her genocide's going to fail, and was rather reassured if anything. It must hurt her to drag her sister's name through the mud, but she probably counted the dying part as a plus until Natori came along and complicated things. She's not angry at Natori for supporting commoners' rights, she's angry at Natori for making her second-guess her suicide plan by making life worth living.

OK, the latest chapters make clear that the kidnappers were from an anti-noble faction, but said faction is led by a conspiracy of low-ranking nobles aiming to use commoner outrage to redistribute top nobility's wealth and status to themselves. In other words, a "classic revolution of the second secretaries". Aurora, meanwhile, has a bad mix of revenge trip and survivor's guilt and wants simultaneously to torture the men responsible for Lapis' murder to death and to end up as a martyr for the status quo, apparently believing that this is what Lapis had wanted. This is very dumb of her, but her brain is too traumatized to see it, and Rubeus is too pragmatic to look a gift horse in the mouth.
